(G.B.B.A) 8 Medals won at SANESMA Marbella Bird Show. 

 

Members of the Gibraltar Bird Breeders Association participated this past week in the XIII Ornithological Bird Show in San Pedro De Alcantara –Marbella organized by the ornithological association of San Pedro de Alcantara, Estepona and Marbella known as SANESMA.


This annual event is proving to be a very popular show, with top quality exhibitors from both the Cadiz and Malaga coast.


There were 64 bird categories on show with 62 participant and about 800 birds on show.


The G.B.B.A. members attend this show as guests of the organizing committee of Sanesma wer John & Richard Gonzalz, Tony Key, Maximiliano Dennis Leslie Pratts and Peter Sardeña


G.B.B.A members competed in 7 categories picking up a total of 8 medals, 3 gold, 2 silver and 3 Bronze medals.


The medal winners were as follows.

The season has virtually come to an end although there are many more shows in mainland Spain which are held too far for the G.B.B.A. members to attend however those birds, which have already traveled some to four shows in the last 2 months, simply need to be rested if they are to recover in time for the biggest event of all  “The World Show”.

Gibraltar Bird Breeders Association (G.B.B.A)

 

Return From Seville’s International Bird Show

With 4 Gold Medals.

 

The delegation of six members of the Gibraltar Bird Breeders Association have recently returned from Seville where they have participated in the much acclaimed and awaited International Bird Show held in Dos Hermanas – Seville and organized by The Ornithological and Cultural Association "El Canario".  A total of 5 medals were won, 4 Gold, and 1 silver. (See table below).

The show attracted 170 participants from Portugal, Spain and Gibraltar.

There were 2386 birds on show, 1657 colour, 515 type, 130 exotics, 50 European Fauna and 30 Hybrids.The G.B.B.A. contingence participated with seventy-two birds all ringed with IOA/Com GB closed rings.

G.B.B.A. participants where: John and Richard. Gonzalez, Tony Key, Maxi Pratts, Peter Sardeña, and Manolo Sueta.

The GBBA made a special commemorative presentation to Mr. Cristobal Rincon Garcia and Eusebio Marques, President and secretary of the Ornithological and Cultural Association "El Canario" for their yearly assistance, hospitality and attention received by GBBA members making our participation possible.

This season is proving to be very successful for GBBA participants and we are all looking forward to the big World Show in Portugal in January 2009.

4 Medals at  Puerto Real - Cadiz Bird Show  

The delegation of five members of the Gibraltar Bird Breeders Association (GBBA) have recently returned from Puerto Real (Cadiz) where they have participated for the first time in the annual Bird Show organized by Asociacion Ornitologica

“ La Bahia” in Puerto Real -Cadiz

 

The GBBA recognizes the inter social values of attending these shows and makes the effort of participating in shows further afield where our members are welcomed with IOA GB closed rings.

This show attracted 179 participants from Cadiz, Barcelona, Malaga and Seville with Gibraltar GBBA members participating as guests for the first time.

Mr. Ramon Bolanios President of the La Bahia Asociacion welcome the Gibraltarian contingency adding that it was a real pleasure and privilege to count with the participation of great breeders and champions from Gibraltar and that he was all for close relationship amongst fellow breeders without nationality distinctions.

There were 2100 birds on show spread amongst 88 groups of coloured birds and 34 of type, amongst European Fauna, Exotics and Hybrid groups.

The G.B.B.A. contingence participated with seventy-two birds all ringed with I.O.A./Com GB closed rings.
